Radio 1 DJ Superstar Zane Lowe officially opened KUBE's re-furbished studio on Saturday 6 November 2010.
KUBE Radio has undergone an overhaul of technical equipment, and a massive refurbishment of the studio. A brand new desk has been specially built and designed for the KUBE studio by Oxford Sound & Media. Brand new microphone stands have also been installed, alongside the addition of all new chairs and headphones in the studio. Most of the money was provided by the Keele University Key Fund, with the rest of the costs being made up by income generated by the general society membership. These renovations will mean that KUBE members will be able to have a higher quality output for this coming year, and hopefully many years after that!
Zane Lowe, who is a strong supporter of student radio, came to Keele University as part of his DJ Hero Tour 2 at Keele Univery Students’ Union on Saturday 6 November 2010. He cut the ribbon on the studio which marked the officially re-opening of the updated facilities. He shared some inspirational words with the assembled KUBE committee and members before signing posters for the ‘KUBE Wall of Fame’. The current KUBE committee have worked tirelessly over the last year to fund the renovations to the studio for future generations. Zane even called the studio “awesome!”, which made everything the committee has been working on feel worth the wait and hard work. He later went on to perform an amazing set in the ballroom, where he even gave a shout out to KUBE Radio!
KUBE Radio is Keele University's very own student radio station. It was originally opened by Maxi Jazz of Faithless, and then later re-opened by Kerrang! Radio's James Walshe when KUBE moved into a new studio.
