Fall Out Boy – American Beauty/American Psycho
After seeing Fall Out Boy at Download Festival last year I was excited to see how this album was going to develop. Of course there was a part of me that was hoping that anthems such as Dance Dance and Sugar We’re Going Down that dominated the playlists of my early teens were going to be making an appearance, but this album is so much more than that. It develops their current rock sound and adds more depth and elements which are previously unheard off within Fall Out Boy tracks.
Opening with Irresistible the tone is set for the whole album. Showing that it is going to be filled with tracks which are developing their sound but still remaining true to themselves. Irresistible has some very well written lyrics as do many other tracks in the album. Patrick Stump as usual has fantastic vocals, and this continues throughout the album. While some effects are used they do not overpower the clarity and add to the overall tone of the album.
While Centuries has been stuck in many of our heads for a while, there are so many other tracks within this album that are brilliant in their own rights. Uma Thurman, their latest single to be released off this album is definitely one of the many brilliant tracks to have been developed by Fall Out Boy on this album. It has a lot of elements that compliment each other and is stuck in my head after a couple of listens. While having a slight softer and dance like beat, it is something I wasn’t expecting them to develop. However, it is a fantastic track easily gets your head bopping.
There is not a single track that lets this album down. Each track is extremely well produced and all compliment each other while bringing in slightly different elements. I know I’ve only focused on some tracks, but those are my personal favourites off the album. American Beauty/American Psycho is another fantastic track off the album with a different set of elements. Personally if you liked Fall Out Boy previously you are going to enjoy this album, as are many who are new to Fall Out Boy. They are continuing to develop and are still increasing their fan base. I cannot wait to see how they will develop and I am really excited about this album as are many fans.
