John Hurt dead, aged 77
Legendary British actor Sir John Hurt passed away last night at home, after a long battle with Cancer, aged 77.
Hurt was one of the most well known and beloved actors of his generation, with a career that spanned six decades. His performances included Garrick Ollivander in the Harry Potter franchise, the Doctor in Doctor Who, Kane in Alien and the titular role in The Elephant Man.
Hurt was nominated for two Oscars and was knighted in 2015. He is survived by his wife Anwen and two children.
His final performance in the film Darkest Hour, as PM Neville Chamberlain will be released later this year, and dedicated to his memory.
