Labrinth – Let It Be
Labrinth’s Let It Be is a track showing the soulful side of the 25 year old singer/producer. It simply exudes maturity and musical wisdom far beyond his years, and with promises of a ‘more coherent’ second album it’s supposedly something we can be getting used to.
With a steady rhythm and low bassline, Let It Be creeps out of your speakers and fills the room with a sound imposing for the sake of being good rather than just loud. It’s a slow-ish song with a focus on vocal acrobatics but with a bluesy, voice like velvet he grabs your undivided attention – where the instrumental has been stripped back to basics Labrinth has put his all into the vocals, channeling the anxiety he felt at releasing the follow up to his successful debut record.
Let It Be is a highly charismatic song that makes for addictive listening. Wherever his worries came from they were certainly unfounded – I’m not going to be able to get enough of this!
