Millennials should spend less time taking selfies and more time taking land

Here begins the first of many articles about things that millennials have ruined or are doing wrong. According to Google, a ‘millennial’ refers to a person reaching adulthood in the early 21st century’. They frequently eat avocado toast and have been criticised for buying meal deals instead of saving to buy a house.

Anyway, first up – millennials should spend less time taking selfies and more time taking land. According to AOL (2017)[1], the average millennial takes 25,000 selfies in their lifetime, that’s the equivalent of 1 selfie a day for 68 years! That is a long time spend in front of the camera finding the perfect angle. I decided to give the trend a go and here are some of my results below.

Perhaps millennial’s time would be more wisely spent taking land instead of selfies. As demonstrated by the photos above, my time could have been spent doing something else. Taking land could be seen as a cultural renaissance to the 15th century or #Throwback as our darling millennials would call it. Feudalism would rule, whereby the richest millennials who have made their money via Instagram, would hold the majority of the land and allow lowly peasant millennials to live there for a cost.

I caught up with Wayne Haines (53), the father of a millennial who said:

‘Back in my day you got a job straight out of School and that’s it! Things were definitely better in my day. Taking selfies? They’re taking bloody liberties!’

It is true, taking land would help millennials’ employability and they would gain transferable skills. It would probably be easier for them to get on the property ladder as well.

What are your views on millennials? Are you a millennial who needs to confess to ruining something for older generations? Let us know!
