Indie music, has taken a grip on English music, and for the most part,
it's terrible. On the other hand, there are bands like The Complete Short
Stories, who make you feel as though, it could bring the reputation and
credibility of Indie music back up.
The London based, 7-piece band have a sound, that reminds me of an
English version of She and Him. The song ‘Burn’ has a playful nature,
which is driven by vocalist, Kerry Adamson, with her unique and beautiful
voice. The instrumentation does very well to compliment Adamson's voice
and also create that playful nature. It also creates a contrast, from what
may be seen as darker lyrics, such as, "Fearfully complacent, at the very
end I wished you dead ", sung so casually and soothingly, in a light-
hearted manner, which makes the song even more distinct.
The Complete Short Stories are well worth listening to and hopefully
they’ll get signed soon, as this band does deserve it, more so than most
bands out there.
