Team Keele Results – 7th February

Here is another round-up from all of Team Keele’s games this Wednesday!

Women’s Lacrosse 1st team

We played away against Manchester 2nds. It was a tough game with both teams evenly matched, we were 2 goals down with 10 minutes to go. The whole team worked together to get 3 final goals and an amazing save by our goalie meant we ended the game 8-7 to us.

Mens Football 2nds

Keele MFC 2nds took on Liverpool Hope 3rds in a mid table clash in division 6C. Keele had many chances throughout the game, and Joe Mason was a constant threat in the middle as Keele’s dominance continued, but struggled to put the ball in the net. In the end the game finished 0-0, which felt like 2 points dropped for the home side.

Cheerleading (competition at the weekend)

Our first competition of the season was at the ICE Northern Frostbite in Manchester, this was a massive event with over 30 teams from around the country. Our level 1 co-ed (mixed gender) and level 2 co-ed teams competed on the Saturday, with our pom dance team competing on the Sunday. This was a really important competition for us as it was the first time half the team had ever competed, and the first time our new routines would be performed.

Level 1 competed first and only had a few small bobbles, every stunt hit and the score showed that. We achieved a 74.7% of the total score. Level 2 had a few small athlete falls which only accounted to minor deductions, however as their routine was very high on difficulty and performance, they scored 84.3% of the total score. Finally the pom dance team showed good precision and technique to score a solid 70%.

All three of our teams came top of their divisions and we finished the weekend with three first place trophies and a medal for each athlete.

Bring on the next competition!

Womens Football 1st (home game)

KUWFC 0 – 4 Edge Hill

A good battle was fought by KUWFC, but against a very very strong top-of-the league side the team failed to break them down. After a poor performance in the first half the second half the team played much better holding Edge Hill off and whilst making more of the chances we were unable to find that last bit of quality in front of goal. Impressive performances from players through out the squad, many of whom out of position due to injuries, who individually held their own. Player of the match performances from goal keeper Hol Wild, who despite the score kept out a multitude of very good shots and our make-shift LB, Holly John, who has shown once again that she is the most versatile player on the pitch. After a busy few weeks of league and cup fixtures, the squad is all looking forward to a well earned week off next week.

Equestrian Match Report

The 7th February saw both our A and B Teams competing in their relative BUCS leagues, with the A Team competing at home and the B Team at Worcester University. It was definitely cold, with us arriving at the stables for the A Team competition in -4ºC and frozen arenas! The horses all looked in absolutely top form and were turned out beautifully (thank you so much to all the team at Poplars Farm for their support and training!) and went brilliantly for all the teams involved in the competition. The A Team finished the day with a 2nd overall, and Camille won individually! Meanwhile, the B Team had a very early start, leaving the AU at 7am, but competed fantastically to come 2nd also as a team, with Becky and Elouise coming 1st and 5th respectively individually. Our next competitions are on the 21st February, where our B and Development Teams will be competing, so fingers crossed for more great results! Well done again to everyone who competed on the 7th!
