Team:Keele Results – 7th March
This weekly round-up mainly focuses on Men’s Football 2s who were competing in the final of the cup! Unfortunately, it came down to penalties and they lost but the boys all performed amazingly.
Football Men’s 2s (away)
The men’s football 2’s travelled to Manchester on Wednesday in the BUCS Northern Plate Final, against a strong Chester 3’s side.
In regular time the game finished 3-3, with goals from Conery, Mason and a last minute equaliser from Adeniyi to send the game to penalties.
Unfortunately, an unbelievable cup run came to a heart-breaking end for the Keele side, as Chester won the shootout 7-6, sending us home with a silver medal.
Nevertheless, I couldn’t be prouder of the team for making it this far in the competition, against all the odds. The manner in which we lost the game, as frustrating as it is, shows just how close we were to being the best out of 64 teams that were in the competition.

Netball 3rds (Home)
Keele thirds played MMU 6ths on Wednesday 7th March. This was a game which we really needed to win, especially as it was 3 team players last ever home game for Keele University. We won 51-24 which was a vast improvement from when we last played them. We turned the first quarter around with Erin Furneaux, Duresha De Zoysa and Laura Plant in defence pushing the interceptions.
Both captains, Abigail King and Lucy Marsden carried their dazzling duo title onto the court and worked a dream popping in the shots from the edge of the D. Neve was WA and she played really well getting the ball down the court and feeding it into the D, always backing everyone up on court when she was needed.
We are all very proud of where we have come and hope to stay in the same league as Keele seconds as long as we can. Next week is our last match for this year in Bangor and couldnt be more excited to give it one last push.
Abigail King and Lucy Marsden (3rd team captains)
